Xometry has seven different 3D printing processes available for instant online quoting. Of these, there are dozens of materials to choose from. Xometry has some excellent references such as its online photo gallery of 3D printed materials, X-Tiles video series, and free design guides to learn more about 3D printing services. But sometimes it makes sense to have some samples on hand to make better decisions on process and material selections.
This is why Xometry has created a 3D Printing Sample Cube that shows off some of the most popular 3D printed polymers and 5 unique additive manufacturing processes. The cube consists of polypanel-compatible squares that can connect together to form a cube, as well as easily separate. We designed these for future expansion packs (coming soon!) to grow your material collection over time.
Xometry’s 3D Printed Sample Cube offers six different materials and 5 different processes for comparison. Note that the flexibility differs between features and each material has its limit. Tabs and hinge features can break with excessive force.
More about Xometry’s 3D printed sample materials:
- SLS Nylon 12 (PA 2200) - This material offers excellent strength and stiffness, good chemical resistance with excellent long-term consistency in material properties.
- HP MJF Nylon 12 - his material offers excellent strength and stiffness, good chemical resistance with excellent long-term consistency in material properties. Parts have slightly more balanced properties than SLS Nylon 12 in the X, Y, and Z direction.
- FDM ABS-M30 - Great general-purpose material available in six colors. Ideal for functional prototypes and low volume production. Solid infill parts are fully dense.
- FDM PC - With almost twice the tensile strength of ABS, polycarbonate has superior mechanical and structural properties. Used widely in automotive, aerospace, and other applications that require durability and stability. Solid infill parts are fully dense.
- Carbon DLS RPU 70 - RPU 70 is a tough, general-purpose polyurethane material that is a good choice for parts requiring strength, durability, and moderate heat resistance. This material has a UL 94 HB flame resistance classification. RPU 70 is comparable to injection-molded ABS.
- SLA Accura ClearVue - A naturally translucent, PC-like material, with excellent moisture resistance. Exhibits high clarity with secondary finishing.
